[devotional] need to practice prudence today

It seems that God values prudence as found in the following verses: 1. "He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame." Proverbs 10:5
2. "When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent." Proverbs 10:19

I want to be a servant who makes his master glad instead of acting like "vinegar and smoke" found in the following verse: "Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him."  Proverbs 10:26

I pray that God will help me along with my small group members to be more prudent in every important matter in life and fulfill God's vision effectively and efficiently with no wasting time through our talents.

According to a dictionary, prudent means "acting with or showing care and thought for the future"; I believe prudence has to do with being wise by having future in mind. I realized use of the word "prudent" has been diminished over the last two centuries according to Google books Ngram viewer (the image attached below). I don't know use of a word in books represents a trend in life but if that's the case, people have been losing to think, talk and live with the value; thus, more reason to live each day by practicing prudence.

Lord, help me and my small group to live with prudence today. Amen.
Amen

Daily Devotional

-the Lord tests
3 The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold,
but the LORD tests the heart.

-Don't start a quarrel
14 Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam;
so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.

-be a friend like this
17 A friend loves at all times,
and a brother is born for a time of adversity.

-words about heart
20 One whose heart is corrupt does not prosper;
one whose tongue is perverse falls into trouble.
22 A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

-painful impact of a foolish son
25 A foolish son brings grief to his father
and bitterness to the mother who bore him.

-warnings against using mouth
27 The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint,
and whoever has understanding is even-tempered.
28 Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent,
and discerning if they hold their tongues.

1 Chronicles 29

11 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. 12 Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.

Today's verse

“But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”- 1 Samuel 16:7

Devotional: Pleasure seeker=poverty

1. "He who loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and oil will never be rich."
I realized that I have been heading toward a wrong direction in life. I have been seeking for earthly pleasure such as porn and game. God wants me to quit those two. He loves me and He wants me back.

2. Lord, please let me be "he who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor." Righteousness is the key in life. What should I do to become righteous? I pursue rightesouness and love! I pursue righteousness and love! I pursue righteousness and love!

3. "The slugggard's crafving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work. " I love work! I love work! I love work!

4. The proud and arrogant man=="Mocker" is his name; he behaves with overweening pride." I'm a humble man! No pride and arrogance will remain in my life.

Devotional- Be a patient man

"Better to be a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city. "
- I haven't controlled my passion or temper for years. I have noticed that I am lack of this virtue. I need to develop this skill.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."
- I got only 5 more days to finish my tour. I need to copy all the pictures from my crew members. Get addresses from them to send gifts. I need to talk to USPS to find out sizes and prices of shipping. Also, I need to buy some gifts for my host family. Of course, I got massive amount of books to finish. I only finished a couple. I need more books to read.

Let me be wise Lord to live today.

==Yesterday, I learned that I need to control my tongue just as todays message. I tried to implement on that lesson at work. I tried not to spit back on the person who gave me a "hard time." I tried to get cheerful look, too. Lord, give me wisdom in keeping up with this skill.
