do not talk behind his back

If you can't talk in front of the person, do not talk behind his back.

Do not harden your hearts

"Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion."

get rid of a sinful, unbelieving heart

2See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

He knows my temptations!

18Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Luke 5

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

I can escape from temptations!

Here is the evidence in the Bible which gives me reason to escape.

Hebrews 2: 18
Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

A quote from Rachel Getting Married "The measure of a great life is not how well-loved you are, but how well you love others."

Take care of your flock

23 Be sure you know the condition of your flocks,

Lesson from Pres. Ha-- Meeting 19 Feb 2009

1. Boost up my cardios by exercising at least 3 times a week.
2. Priority takes place as follows: job search > health and capability development>functions as a family member and friend. For the job search, 1) redefine what I wish to accomplish in life 2) find my talentsIn mission statement, put down things that I would like to achieve within 5 years (organize my talents). Put down scalable goals.
3. Learn how to lead a group meeting (be sensitive the atmosphere of the group and be considerate of the participants mental situation)
4. Read mission statement every morning.

Seed, fruit, honesty, process

I am responsible for my actions.
12
If you say, "But we knew nothing about this,"
does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?
Does not he who guards your life know it?
Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?

He wants me to be an honest man.

26 An honest answer
is like a kiss on the lips.

Things in life takes process. Rome wasn't built a day.

27 Finish your outdoor work
and get your fields ready;
after that, build your house.

Listen to God and parents

God wants me to be righteous (wise, right, being instructed, getting knowledge, true, disciplined, understanding)
Also, He wants me to listen to my parents and do not look down on them.

Lord, thanks for Your Words. Let me live today with wisdom, righteousness, etc.

19
Listen, my son, and be wise,
and keep your heart on the right path.

15 My son, if your heart is wise,
then my heart will be glad;

16 my inmost being will rejoice
when your lips speak what is right.

12 Apply your heart to instruction
and your ears to words of knowledge.

23 Buy the truth and do not sell it;
get wisdom, discipline and understanding.

26 My son, give me your heart
and let your eyes keep to my ways,

27 for a prostitute is a deep pit
and a wayward wife is a narrow well.

28 Like a bandit she lies in wait,
and multiplies the unfaithful among men.

22 Listen to your father, who gave you life,
and do not despise your mother when she is old.

24 The father of a righteous man has great joy;
he who has a wise son delights in him.

25 May your father and mother be glad;
may she who gave you birth rejoice!

Believe and obey, priority, and a stat

God wants me to believe His words and obey.

What are the areas of my life that I put higher priority above God?
1. Playing games 2. Porn 3. Myself ?

Missionary Esther mentioned that 90% of American Christians are no different than non American Christians. I was shocked. Where are the areas that I do the same? Sex, etc?

Lord, forgive me for the things that I've done. Let me be like you.

Devotional: Pleasure seeker=poverty

1. "He who loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and oil will never be rich."
I realized that I have been heading toward a wrong direction in life. I have been seeking for earthly pleasure such as porn and game. God wants me to quit those two. He loves me and He wants me back.

2. Lord, please let me be "he who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor." Righteousness is the key in life. What should I do to become righteous? I pursue rightesouness and love! I pursue righteousness and love! I pursue righteousness and love!

3. "The slugggard's crafving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work. " I love work! I love work! I love work!

4. The proud and arrogant man=="Mocker" is his name; he behaves with overweening pride." I'm a humble man! No pride and arrogance will remain in my life.

A new finding

Isn't life supposed to be pursuing the goal instead of little things happening aside the way?

I went to San Diego Zoo yesterday and Ben and I took SkyFari, an air gondola tour. At first, I was afraid of little rattling sounds and physical shaking because I was focusing on what was happening around me instead of enjoying the goal that I had, which is to overview of the zoo. The funny phenomenon was that the more I focus on the rattling nature of gondola, the more I get afraid of the tour although the experience was supposed to be fun and rewarding. After all, I changed my focus to the zoo and started browsing over the zoo. From that moment to the end of the tour, I was able to reach a moment of solace and comfort even though I was high in the air.

The lesson is that I need to set up goal in my life. And that process starts today the January 1st.

Quote from Aristotle

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.
Aristotle

I am what I repeatedly do. What do I repeatedly do? Playing games, reading books, watching porns, wasting time, etc?
Lord, help me control my life. I can't do anything without you...

quote- opportunities come to those who seek

Have I sought for opportunities?

Devotional- Be a patient man

"Better to be a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city. "
- I haven't controlled my passion or temper for years. I have noticed that I am lack of this virtue. I need to develop this skill.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."
- I got only 5 more days to finish my tour. I need to copy all the pictures from my crew members. Get addresses from them to send gifts. I need to talk to USPS to find out sizes and prices of shipping. Also, I need to buy some gifts for my host family. Of course, I got massive amount of books to finish. I only finished a couple. I need more books to read.

Let me be wise Lord to live today.

==Yesterday, I learned that I need to control my tongue just as todays message. I tried to implement on that lesson at work. I tried not to spit back on the person who gave me a "hard time." I tried to get cheerful look, too. Lord, give me wisdom in keeping up with this skill.

Monday, December 15, 2008

  • 자기 행동을 바꾸는 실제적인 노력이 없다면 쓸모없는 인물이다.
  • This morning i learned that I need to crucify my passion and desires to the cross (Gal 5:24)
  • 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.
  • A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
  • The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.
  • The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
  • The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools.
  • A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel.
  • A man finds joy in giving an apt reply-and how good is a timely word!
  • A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.
  • The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.
  • A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish man despises his mother.
Today's message is mainly about words of my mouth and attitude in life. Crucifying my sinful passions and desires are readily required to survive.
